Editorial Review of Hollywood Blvd. Cinema

Looking for a good place to spend your next date night? At Hollywood Blvd. you can kill three birds with one stone. The cinema/restaurant/bar is a one-stop shop for dinner, a movie and drinks. Your date will either enjoy the unique experience of dining in the glow of the big screen or just think you're a lazy cheapskate who didn't put much thought into it (and wanted to get away with just one tip).

Although the food isn't that great, it's still fun to try eating at the movies. And anyone who's ever tried to sneak booze into a theater will find it's a lot nicer to have a pitcher of margaritas on a table in front of you. All the menu items have inspired names like the Arnold Schwarzenburger (served open-faced with a side of Oscar fries) and Honey, I Blew up the Salad (expect to pay about $10 per entree, but the less-expensive appetizers are safer bets).

It can be a little distracting at times. First, there's the hustle and bustle of placing an order as the movie gets rolling. Then there's always a little confusion when the staff emerges with food and drinks in the dark theater. And don't forget to consider the effects of alcohol. If you plan on having more than a drink, go see a mindless comedy. An intellectual thriller may be a little too much to handle with a buzz, and an epic drama could be ruined if you break the seal.

This place can get packed on the weekends, but there's a full bar in the lobby, which is decked out with antique Oriental decor and tons of movie posters. Hollywood Blvd. also hosts special events like its Hitchcock Festival and regular showings of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Sometimes, the place attracts B-list stars like Michael Madsen, David Carradine and the Weasley twins from Harry Potter. The theater even landed Paris Hilton in 2006 for a showing of her classic film "National Lampoon's Pledge This!"

Average cost: $10-$20
