The lofty ceilings, open space and oversized couches that have undeniably been well-loved over the years, make Savor the Flavor feel light years away from the bustling neighborhood outside its doors. And the offerings, which include Intelligentsia coffee, Mighty Leaf tea and Homer's ice cream, might even be enough to draw the Lincoln Park crowd away from any allegiances to a certain coffee chain.
Savor focuses on quality and comfort. While that combo may seem like an obvious formula for success, it takes these ideals so noticeably to the next level that you may get hooked the first time you walk in. The friendliness of the staff and owner Geri Schapira can instantly put a smile on your face, and that smile will just keep growing if you nestle into your seat and linger with a steaming Ghirardelli mocha and a slice of banana bread. In warmer months, try the Frosticcino, a frothy blend of milk, ice, coffee and espresso, or the slightly sweeter chai shaker, a milkshake with vanilla ice cream and chai. Most drinks cost $3 to $5, and a single scoop of ice cream will set you back $3.
Besides its superbly welcoming feel, perhaps the best part about Savor is its free wireless internet. And, unlike so many coffee shops, it has enough outlets and tables that you won't feel guilty hunkering down for a few hours.
