Back in the Molise province of southern Italy, Adriana Marzullo's parents ate authentic and rustic Italian recipes. So why shouldn't we? Visit Zullo's new location in the French Market next to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, and you'll feel like one of Adriana's paesan.

The menu focuses on seasonal, local and organic ingredients, and highlights the signature Fiadoni -- sweet and savory handpies of veggies, meats and fruit ($2.50). Naturally, Zullo's offers Italian staples like pizzas, assorted pastas ($8), paninis ($6.50-$10), pastries, sandwiches and soups that change daily. And no matter your appetite, don't leave without trying the beloved Zeppole di mela (handmade apple cider donuts, $5).

Zullo's is already a staple at the Green City Market, now claims a spot near the dining tables in the back of the French Market, and will also hit the farmer's market circuit during the summer. Chef Greg Christian, who runs his own food service sustainability consulting group, likes to hand out samples in the late afternoon to Metra passengers on their way home.

Pizza lovers are encouraged to grab a slice ($4.50-$5.75) to go and warm it up at home. The panini stuffed with homemade sausage is also delicious.
