Silk Road Theatre Project's latest acclaimed premiere, by resident playwright Yussef El Guindi, deals with a subject close to the heart of Silk Road's mission: Arab voices in the American media. In "Our Enemies," frustrated writer Gamal launches a press-baiting prank campaign while his girlfriend, hot new novelist Noor, tries to avoid turning her book into a Middle Eastern literary version of a minstrel show. According to critics, Guindi's smart, clear-eyed script does a brilliant job of deconstructing stereotypes without falling prey to them. (It's funny, too.)
