Recommended a "Must See" Show

Once upon a time, in high school, a nerdy Christian, a big-city gay kid and a deranged drama queen got all tangled up in each other's internets, uncovered a dirty secret and joined this weird forensics club. "Speech and Debate," in its regional premiere at American Theatre Company, is both funny and deliciously overblown, like a John Hughes classic deformed by Facebook. (Don't miss Sadieh Rifai as video blogger/unredeemable "Wicked" fan Dawita.) The plot, which centers on a web-based student/teacher sex scandal, provides uncountable laughs, plenty of intense confrontations and one utterly fabulous dance number. It smells like a hit.
