Currently performing in its new theater at the Water Tower Water Works on Michigan Avenue, Lookingglass has come up in the world quite a bit. The space is easy to find: it's the building on the east side of Michigan Avenue that looks kind of like a castle. The inside also looks really cool: You can see through glass to all the pipes of the Water Works, and the lobby is cozy but classy.
The black box space itself is extremely adaptable; depending on the show, it can be shaped to be a classical proscenium, thrust or even in-the-round. The seats are comfortable and the ushers (furnished by the Saints) polite and helpful. In general the space exudes a positive feel- you get the impression of a company that has kept its Off-Loop edginess intact, but with a whole lot more money to play with. There's paid parking near the theatre, but if not in the mood for that you'll probably have to take a cab or a bus.
