| Born in Wilmette, IL, Murray's corky and dry sensibility quickly helped sign him onto Chicago's star making vehicle: the Second City comedy troupe. Soon after, Murray made the leap from Chicago's improv stage to NYC's hit TV series Saturday Night Live, replacing Chevy Chase who left after only one season to pursue his Hollywood calling card; (where would we be without Fletch?) Anyway, Murray's run on SNL during its heyday ensured a successful TV to film cross-over transition with subsequent comedy film classics such as Meatballs (1979), Caddyshack (1980), Ghostbusters 1 & 2 (1984), What About Bob (1991), and Groundhog Day (1993). Let's not also forget Murray's appearance in Tim Burton's b & w film Ed Wood (1994) in which Murray plays an endearing transvestite, romping around in a dress and make-up. Unfortunately, his first follow-up role in 3 years was the tanker, The Man Who Knew Too Little (1997). More recently, he was an amusingly off-beat insurance-scamming lawyer in the sexy thriller Wild Things.
