| Franz made his big prime-time TV debut on Steven Bochco's '80s drama Hill Street Blues as the streetwise lieutenant Norman Buntz. Franz teams up with Bochco again in the controversial, but Emmy-Award winning show NYPD Blue, which Franz himself has earned three Emmys for his "revealing" portrayal of cancer-stricken, tough guy detective, Andy Sipawitz. Maybe Franz's no-nonsense attitude comes from his real-life experience as a Vietnam War Vet. In the film world, Franz recently appeared in the Wim Wenders wanna be rip-off, City of Angels, (1998) starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan.
