Michael O'Rourke

Michael O'Rourke has worked in professional and community theatre for companies as diverse as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) and Anchorage Community Theatre (ACT). While at OSF he inaugurated a series of Midnight Projects that led to the remodeling of its Exhibit Hall into a studio theatre known as the Black Swan. He co-founded Actors’ Theatre in Oregon in 1982, producing 100 productions in 13 years, and served as executive director for the capital campaign to purchase and remodel a vaudeville playhouse, now the home of Camelot Theatre.

Michael served as managing artistic director for ACT’s Golden Anniversary Season, producing and directing unprecedented collaborations with the Alaska Native Heritage Center and the African-American company SAV. Michael’s collaboration with Lakota actor Robert Owens resulted in a one-man show that toured internationally for six years.
