Paul Lynde

Comedic actor is best known as a long-running celebrity guest on the original game show Hollywood Squares (for which he won two Emmy Awards), and his role as Uncle Arthur on the 1960s TV series, "Bewitched." During his long career, he was a comedy writer, nightclub performer, Broadway actor & director, recording artist, supporting actor in movies, voice actor on cartoons. His witty one-liners and line delivery made him one of Hollywood's best loved entertainers.

Born June 13, 1927 in Mount Vernon, Ohio, Lynde graduated from Northwestern University's Speech and Drama School in 1948, winning the "Best Student Actor of the Year" award. In the Waa-Mu show he teamed up with another later famous student, Charlotte Rae.

Lynde died in 1982 at the age of 55, found drowned in his backyard swimming pool.
