| R & D is a Violence Design team, comprising Richard Gilbert and David Gene Gregory. Based here in Chicago since 1997, they have choregraphed hundreds of fights for theatres and film. They have educated hundreds of students at their West Loop studio, The Fight Shop, as well as at colleges, universities, high schools and theatre training centers. Their mission is to improve the power and effectiveness of Chicago Theatre at its most visceral level through the art of violence design. They educate new audiences, teach actors, and bring organic, true, and responsible violence designs to theatres so that the power of the stories that are presented on Chicago stages can be heightened to their full potential.
