Rivendell Theatre Ensemble
Rivendell Theatre Ensemble is a professional equity company dedicated to pursuing the talents of women artists, playwrights, actors, directors, technical staff and designers to create a compelling environment for both the actor and audience. Established in 1993, the company's production highlights include Faulkner's Bicycle, directed by Steppenwolf's literary manager Ed Sobel, which played to sold out audiences in both its initial run at the Studio Theater in the Chicago Cultural Center and at its revival at Theater on the Lake. Last season, the company featured productions of Naomi Wallace's The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, which received a Jeff nomination and outstanding reviews, and Indulgences in the Louisville Harem directed by Collaboraction's founder, Kimberly Senior. One of the company's recent productions, Be Aggressive, welcomed back Steppenwolf Theatre's Ed Sobel to direct and was met with tremendous success both critically and at the box office. Rivendell Theatre Ensemble was chosen as the Company in Residence for Storefront Theatre for 2004-2005.
