Who's Who Chicago: Centerstage People
Joel Wicklund
Joel Wicklund has been obsessed with movies since childhood, when his late-night viewing of Hammer horror films on television went blissfully unregulated by his progressive (and sleepy) parents.

A graduate of the film and video program at Columbia College in Chicago, Joel was previously a regular freelance film critic for The Daily Southtown in Chicago and Southern Lakes Weekend in Burlington, Wisconsin. His features, interviews, and reviews have also been published in The Onion and Screen Magazine, as well as on the Web sites Tangents and 24 Frames Per Second. For more than four years he was the head staff writer for Facets Multimedia, where he also taught two film appreciation classes and organized and promoted a weekend series of videos by Jeff Krulik (Heavy Metal Parking Lot) that drew overflow crowds to the venue.

When not overindulging his love of movies, he has been known to prattle on about politics, music, professional basketball and the glorious absurdities of cable access programming.
